GAE Public Hearing
Dear Friends of the CT Environmental Rights Amendment,
The CT ERA, now SJ36, is up for a public hearing this coming Friday, February 7, at noon in the Government Administration and Elections Committee. This is our opportunity to make our case to the legislators and show grassroots support. I hope you will consider submitting testimony either in writing or orally, which you can do in person or on Zoom. The link to submit testimony in writing is here, and to sign up as a speaker is here.
In this time of chaos and disruption at the national level, this is a positive action we can take. We can make sure that whatever happens to the Environmental Protection Agency and other Federal agencies working on natural resource protection, environmental justice, and climate change, we can put strong protection for our environmental rights into our own state constitution.
For the Future,
Kim Stoner

In celebration of autumn, join us this November for an evening of camaraderie with CT NOFA members and friends at Aquila’s Nest Vineyard in Newtown – all are invited! “Common Ground” Film Screening
Common Ground is the highly anticipated sequel to the juggernaut success documentary, Kiss the Ground, which touched over 1 billion people globally and inspired the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to put $20 billion toward soil health. By fusing journalistic expose’ with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, Common Ground unveils a dark web of money, power, and politics behind our broken food system. The film reveals how unjust practices forged our current farm system in which farmers of all colors are literally dying to feed us. The film profiles a hopeful and uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize America’s economy – before it’s too late.
Expert panelists from CT NOFA will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.

Dr. Kim Stoner | Emeritus Scientist, Department of Entomology at the CT Agricultural Experiment Station and CT NOFA Director of Policy and Advocacy
